The success/failure of the advent children BluRay can really factor into their decision if FF7-2/remake ever gets annouced.

ahh i think the masterpeice should stay a classic !! a remake although would be f ing awesome should be left as is

Agreed on FFVII but then again remember Sony published the original and remember this too these are the smae folks that did Kingdom Hearts, and who are doing FF Versus XIII and the Nomura or however you spell his name (srry) favors Sony unlike the FFXIII team remember they r too different teams doing FFXIII and Versus.

 

You make some good points. Nomura does apparently favor Sony based on his interviews, but FF7 as an IP is 100% owned by SquareEnix. Kinda like how GeOW is 100% owned by Epic. Unless there's a contract in place, it's completely up to the developers. I really doubt that FFv13 will stay PS3 exclusive WW after the whole "Only on PS3" debacle, but if FFv13 does stay PS3 exclusive WW, then it'll play an important role on how SquareEnix does business with Sony.

 Agreed, that being said I dont own a PS3 and would love versus to follow its big brother FFXII on to the 360.

 

 

I think ill get my anti-flame sheild out now.

1. Square will probably never develop a remake on this game.
2. If they decice to develop a remake then Square will invite the big three, Nintendo, ms, sony and will put the remake in auction. possible results of the auction? Nintendo will leave the meeting IMMEDIATELLY, sony would tremble in the possibility of losing this game and ms will finally pay tons of money and secure this remake.

Finally i am not so sure if Versus will do so much difference. ms (unfortunatelly) made the big move and break sony's exclusivity on this franchise once and for all i am afraid. I wouldn't be surprised if the next FF will be developed only for a future ms's console. Maybe ms will buy the whole Square-Enix by then.

Nope it is not the same
Final Fantasy as a brand name is miles ahead of Gears. And part of this rpg legend is the fact that FF7 put sony at the number 1 position back then as you mentioned.
For me FF 13 on 360 was one of the most shocking news in recent videogames history. And from the mouth of Square's president himself. This move alone might leave sony at the third place and open japan market for ms.
