Oh, no wonder they're so high, they're in Japan. Crazy high bandwith over there.

We were about to get FioS a couple of weeks ago, but sadly, it's not available in this area... yet. But when it is...

And my lappy is on wireless, so wired the connection would be better, right?

i am actually geting fios when it gets to the Big Apple.

btw: fastest i got it to go so far:

though it did peak temporarly over 10000 but it went down.

FiOs is already in the Big apple.

My friend (that lives in NYC) has it going at 45-50,000 kbps. For only 150 dollars a month, while I have to pay 70 dollars for time warner which only gives me 15000 kbps tops.

US has too much land area at this point to have fiber optics as ubiquitous as smaller countries like Japan. It is not cost effective for the big providers to all jump aboard. Good thing Verizon is taking a chance though. Hopefully they make tons of money and everyone else goes as well.
