The biggest complaints people seem to have about Obama are "not old enough!" and "not white enough!". Picking an old white guy for his running mate seems like the obvious choice.

Actually, the biggest complaint is "not experienced enough". And since he'd still be making most of the important decisions, having an experienced running mate can't make up for that. That's why McCain has my vote, even though I'm a registered Democrat.

It's not about party, race, gender, or anything that superficial. It's about who is best for the job. Instead, people are flocking to this guy because he's so different than the last guy, and not considering how capable he really is. That is exactly the kind of support that last guy had.

And yet a cabinet advises the president on most of his decisions, and the president often takes these suggestions in great weight. And if the last 2 presidents have shown us anything, it's that experience doesn't exactly make a great president. The only sad thing is that Biden won't be able to control Obama like Cheney controlled Bush.

W Bush was not that experienced. That's why he went with his cabinet blindly. Not sure Obama would be that dumb, but he just doesn't strike me as ready yet.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

What a terrible pick

The Republicans are already digging into the treasures that hotheaded Biden dropped when he was running for president.

I love this one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDVUPqoowf8

There is a lot more where that came from, especially that one remark Biden made stereotyping African Americans and calling Oblah blah the first "clean" African American candidate.

Tsk Tsk

Say hello to President McCain.

This reminds me of 2000 all over again, except its now dealing with the democrats

An inexperienced fraud-Bush 2000-Oblah blah 2008 - chooses an experienced, albeit an angry old VP- Cheney 2000-Biden 2008.

Who is "Oblah Blah?" Is that supposed to be the worst pun imaginable that you can derive from Obama? Gee, you sound like a caveman rather than someone who's actually trying to be clever.

And do you really think something like a vice presidential pick, this late into both candidacies, would actually hurt Obama's chances? A Republican smear campaign only has so much effectiveness.

Go back and read up on your history and especially what happened in 1984 when the negative emphasis remained on Ferraro the VP instead of Mondale who was on top of the ticket. Needless to say, Mondale lost.

Or maybe even the 1972 election where McGovern's initial VP pick, Thomas Eagleton had a negative campaign run against him because he had recieved electroshock therapy. This ultimately forced Eagleton to give up the position and it was probably one of the major things that led to McGovern's giant loss in the end.

No president in waiting needs a VP that can interfere in the process. Biden has plenty of gaffes and plenty of negativity associated with him which the Republicans will definitely use to their benefit. Plus O's message of so called "change" is virtually slashed by him picking an old school politician like Biden, who has been embedded in DC for a looong time.

Say what you want now, Biden will not be an asset. With BO's ratings dipping every day, this was not the person that he needed, but oh well.

Good choice - Biden is old and white, and so incorporates McCain's appeal.

Lol, for sure.  Those old white males are actually the demographic he is struggling with the most.  Surprise, surprise, white males are usually always the ones who circumvent social progress (and I say that as a white male myself).

Bolded the key word.

"Progress" is entirely subjective. Don't get too high on that horse for when you fall, it only hurts more. People have different ideas of right and wrong, of importance and neglect. What you feel is progress is likely the downfall of America in others' eyes.

I completely agree.  Its just political shorthand.

My definition of progress is a government which becomes more transparent, is more accountable to the average citizen, and reflects what the average person wants.  Moving back towards fiscal responsibility would definitely be progress as well.

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Seriously, who the hell are you?  Just because you say something doesn't make it true.

McCain rapes women, eats babies, sodomizes donkeys, molests jack rabbits, fingers elephants, steals candy, defocates marmadukes, urinates elephantiasis, polishes feces, gargles marmalade, and fries black people.

Don't vote for him, cause he does do those things.  I said it, so its obviously true.

Calm down, your messiah O will not appreciate the negativity. Just chill and grab some kool-aid.
