i read on gaf that split screen multiplayer has been canned for the time being (it won't be there on release), that sucks. :(

I'm pretty sure it will have offline splitscreen MP.  Otherwise offline MP would be practically useless outside of lan matches.

It'll probably be just like the original. Splitscreen offline multiplayer, but singleplayer campaign and online multiplayer.

Though they have said that they may add in co-op in an update.  :)

Well I've said before that I'm definitely getting Killzone 2, but that full length video you posted has filled me with the need to post, simply to comment on just how phenomenal it looks.

There's just one hurdle left and that's something we won't know until February, namely, how long the game is. Games like this have had a tendency to be far too short in recent years. If they provide a 12+ hour campaign then it looks set to be one of the games of the generation (There'd better not be something else that makes me eat these words!).

By the way, how essential do you think it will be to know the story of the original?

lol there's an animation glitch around the two minute mark. He shoots the guy on the balcony and he does his death animation, then he suddenly reappears to the left and dies.

*edit* In the video embedded above.

Also, that video seemed to show more Helghast shooting at and hitting the player as opposed to earlier footage.

The game will have 11 different levels, each level will be 45-60mins long.  Of course you can make the game much longer if you want to crank it to the hardest level.

I would assume basic knowledge of the story is a plus, you can find the video's on Youtube of the other Killzones.  There is also other key story events based on a timeline, you can find this on the main killzone site.  Maybe the weekend before the game comes out take 1-2 hours to read and watch all the story material.

Thanks.

That's longer than COD4 at least. And yes the multiplayer looks great so the game wouldn't be broken by a criminally short campaign anyway, it would just be a disappointment.

For me it's all about the singleplayer.

Co-op via online would've been awesome. :(

Video of the GC demo from start to finish:

Link if it doesn't work:

http://tv.multiplayer.it/3195/killzone-2-filmato-11-videoanteprima-gc-2008

I just watched the entire thing, it was great from start to finish, too bad people have seen that level played over 100 times and know where every single person and weapon is on the map.  The guy was running through the entire thing.

The video seems much better when it is played by someone who can actually play a shooter and not miss.

My god, the other videos on gametrailers make the game seem less fun when they can't shoot for shit if their lives depended on it.

Yeah, I agree.  This video shows how damn fun it is to actualy hit your targets, in all it's gruesome glory.

this is a game that when you look at it, you know that it is not going to be able to be done on any other home console
