I was just watching Men's Gymnastic's on NBC, and at 12:03 or 12:04 EST they were playing a song from SimCity in the background. It was faint, but I heard it and I thought "That's SimCity 3000 Unlimited music! But I must be sure!". So I put in my SC3000U disc, started up the game and went to the Preferences and checked the songs. I checked a few, but then I put on "Magic City" and I knew it was going to be it.

So...kind of weird, but cool indeed. If you recorded it, go and see. The part that they played that was audible was from about 1:10-1:50 or so.

Who was competing, was it selected music for the performance or just in the background?

Yann Cucherat, the French guy. You can actually hear the beginning of the song when he first starts, then after he falls and gets back up and is doing it again, you can hear the more melodic part of the song.
