He expects the PS3 to be first in overall software sales?

Ooooookay....

I disagree, and for proof I present the first graph NPD released for Nintendo's "Look! We really do sell software!" press release:

wats wrong with saying thAt? PS3 will do a lot better in the future, and it probably will pass it in software sales, but if u look at wats currently happening, then, yes u r right, the PS3 is going to have to do a lot if its to pass the Wii in software sales.

I dont care what Sony wins or loses ,as long as they keep in the industry and provides great machines as the PS1,PS2 and PS3.

Funny enough ,the same DMC data about Sony loses says the PS3 is the number one in software sales.

Besides ,I think Sony was in the black the two last quarters so it will probably be in the black the whole year..

If I remember shiney went under about two times already, these guys know as much as Sega on this matter. =.= Ok that was mean, but he's not saying anything new, he should be talking about games to the gaming press not the status of the industry.

I could understand if he was talking about his companies place in the industry, but right now he's just flexing his muscles with words - show me the money.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Good lord, lost more money then they made on the PS2? The PS2?!? Thats hard to believe. Its like saying the last gens sales were for not, except for brand image.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

10 year plan?

Sorry...but at this rate PS3 SW won't pass Wii SW. There's also bigger and better games coming out for the Wii...so the PS3 will never achieve that. I'll be surprised if it happens to outsell 360 SW.

not for 2008.

thing is whilst PS1 financed PS2 and PS2 finaced PS3 both those consoles won their generation. i actually expect wii to have a 10 yera life cycle as it is not dependant on the newest tech, just as the PS2 wasnt

So we can summise from this that while Sony have slipped up this time around, Microsofts foray into gaming has been a disaster from the start

Um and who says this guy is even credible? A software guy is popping off about hardware sales? Where does his data come from? Does anyone know but sony how much they made or lost?

Sony has lost a ton on the PS3, but gaming is only one part of Sony's portfolio. And i remember a thread that broke down the loss/gains and it did not reflect losing all the PS2 profits which i thought were around 12 billion...Any one know where those threads are?

Anywhoo, this is exactly what is wrong with reporting in general these days. One person hears from another person and then all the sudden the sky is falling. It is just plain silly.

If these figures are true concerning Microsoft's gaming division, it really does make you wonder if it's something they are willing to be in for the long haul. Already with Vista it's like they are positioning themselves to primarily be PC game developer/pubisher...
