Hey guys! It's been a long time since I've made a video on my YouTube page, and I've been playing Gradius V for a long time... I'm really looking forward to make a video of me playing the game, but I don't really know how to record it straight to my new laptop.

As some of you may know, I've recently bought a 80GB PS3 (congratulate me, haha). I also had to buy an HDMI cable because Sony didn't even provide a component cable anyway (cheap bastards). Anyway, when I plugged the HDMI cable on my TV and then my laptop's HDMI output, I see my desktop on the TV. So I had this idea to just plug the HDMI cable on my PS3 and then my laptop... but nothing happened.

Do I need a special receiver or something? Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure your laptop's HDMI is output only. In other words, it can send out HDMI signals to HDMI equipment, but it can't receive the HDMI signals from another device. Or else it would defeat the HDCP which is the selling point for content providers to release HD content.

Hmmm, so there's really no other way? I don't really want to spend my money on a DVD recorder ($200+!!!)... o_o
