It would be safe to say people are hoping MAG will flop.  Obviously, nobody can say it will flop based on a 20 second cgi trailer.  Once it comes closer to a release date, they will focus on any negative criticism in early previews.  If all else fails, they will claim it is generic or already has been done on some other platform.  These are just symptoms of the disease.

I think the better question is why people think it will be the NEXT flop, given that it won't be out for some time.

Maybe Fracture. LucasArts has the same DMM, Euphoria, etc tools in it but the main focus is the Force Unleashed which, btw, will NOT bomb.

I think Banjo & Kazooie 3 might flop in sales, along with Fable 2.

If by flop you mean games with a large amount of hype not living up to it, I would have to say Mirror's Edge and Little Big Planet. I think unrealistic expectations are being placed on those two unfortunately.

MAG will be "the next flop"? lol it hasn't even been decently *described* yet.

I say its going to be... "Halo 4: MMO Wars", 257-player RTS/MMO/FPS all in one, made by MS's Excel team... Bungie not needed! The next big flop! Wait... maybe WiiSurf, with 6' plastic Surfboard attachment for the WiiMote will be the next big one.


Here's the real next "flop" for ya: The Conduit. I'm not actually joking with this one. All the droves of Wii shooter fans will prove, once and for all, that shooters don't belong on the Wii. I might enjoy it, though -- I just have to remember to get my hands on it early, before it goes bargain bin and vanishes forever.

LBP,... lol, clueless indeed! LBP has way too much momentum, push and love from the media for that to happen, keep dreamin' though. I wonder if the same people that said MGS4 will flop are the ones who are saying LBP?

I am going to say Spore as well and/or the Force Unleashed.

Odd...you say this (first bold) yet you say Spore (Second bold) will flop when it's gotten a good deal of positive press as well. What it comes down too is hype isn't always a GOOD thing for a product.

There is financial flop and there is hype flop.  The hype for LBP is that of Sony's own personal Jesus as savior.  While 10 and 20 million are the extremists predictions, I've seen several expect 5 million with only a few expecting less.   If the hype is 5 million, 2 million is a flop.   I personally don't expect it to hit 2 million.

If we're talking hype flop then LBP will undoubtedly flop, it's just impossible to live up to hype like "the most important game ever." There's such a huch disconnect between the astronomical hype on the internet and the dull, barely aware of the game's existence reception it's getting everywhere else.
