Forums - Gaming - The Next big flop

Can we get a definition of "FLOP"? Some people think flop means not received well critically. Some people think it means low sales. Too Human, so far, is running at about 67% on Metacritic. Is that a flop? If it sells a million copies in the first month will it be a flop?

Next major flop: Wii Music.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Around the Network

I don't see how Wii Music is going to be a flop. Everyone who saw Nintendo's E3 knows the game looks just terrible and mainly for casuals. So if it doesn't score well critically it isn't really flopping our expectations. I can't seeing it not selling over 3 million sales when having "Wii_____" on it. (Released this holiday)

I can see BK:N&B doing bad-ok, 360 just doesn't have the audience for it.

As far as being the next big flop to engender flame wars between 360 and PS3 fans, if it isn't one of the titles that have already been mentioned, then I would say that it could be Bioshock PS3. If one takes into account the fact that the original version might have been a little overrated to begin with and that it has already been on 360 and PC, then there's a good chance that if it launches with a review score less than 9.7 (even if pixel for pixel its the exact same game), then a lot of 360 fans will be on Bioshock PS3 boards across the net saying this game ***** while the 360 version ******!"

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

Jeanne D'Arc is not a flop.  It received very high review scores and is widely considered to be the best strategy rpg on the PSP.  Also it didn't fail to meet expectations as the only places that really hyped it was IGN because they found it to be such a great game and specialist mags like Play that hype those games that no one else does.

White Knight Chronicles can only be a flop if it doesn't beat games like Tales of Vesperia in review scores.  Level-5 has long been called the next big thing as far as developers of console rpgs goes and WKC, a game that really hasn't received that much hype from Sony, but rather in the fan community, is their opportunity to shine.  If Tales of Vesperia only gets an 8.5 in American reviews and White Knight, like Rogue Galaxy, gets a higher review score than that, then it will be a success.
