Because sales are the only quantifiable evidence people cant argue with.

Another long (LONG) shot is Resident Evil 5. The first one sold 5 million, it'll release halfway through next year in a lull, and its on two platforms with graphics-hungry audiences.

Come on.  Having been rejected to a November launch, even on the off chance Killzone 2 is what Sony says it will be, do you really think it has a chance at 5+ million copies sold?

1. Half Life 2 was released 1 year before this gen started. 2. Crysis probably hasn't cracked 3 million in sales even. 3. Ditto on Battlefield 2 or CSS or UT3.

Crysis?

I dunno what you are spinning here but game quality wise or sales wise crisis isn't on any lists. The game looks pretty...ooooo la di da. Story is weak, gameplay is typical crytek (not as good as best FPS games) and whe whole experience doesn't hold a candle to best fps games out there. And from what I heard it sold like ass...

That 5 mil is a moveable target, its like Pole Vaulting at the Olympics. Currently the target to beat for a bronze medal is 5 Million in sales, but 3 other competitors have their shot before Killzone 2 gets to even attempt it.
