Forums - Sony - Does Sackboy deserve to be Sonys' Mascot?

Considering from the insane hype they've been feeding the public about LittleBigPlanet, they must want sackboy as a mascot. Though, is sackboy an ideal mascot for Sony? I personally think it is. So, what do you think?

Guidelines to understanding my train of thought:

  • THE METAL GEAR SOLID FRANCHISE IS THE BEST THING TO HIT THE PLANET SINCE THE PS3!! THUS, MGS FRANCHISE >> SLICED-BREAD.
  • Solid Snake shall and well always shove 1up mushrooms up Mario's ass. 
  • Solid Snake shall and well always decimate Master Chief with a flurry of rocket launchers, shotgun rounds, and a 20 minute monologue.

LittleBigPlanet is probably the game that will do a difference for Sony this Holiday season. With Sackboy as a mascot, expect huge milking of the series in the next couple of years! Not that it's bad... Let's just hope we won't see him with a gun or in a Mario 64 clone type of game though. o_o



Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Absolutely, yes.

LittleBigPlanet is a game that is attempting to be innovative and widely accessible, and those qualities are definitely suitable for a "mascot".
As a bonus, Sackboys happen to be insanely awesome in their own right.

Depends, Will we see Sackboy in any more games? I don't care how much they market him, if it's just one game, that's not really a mascot to me.

Sacboy is a perfect mascot, reasons to follow:

1. Cute, but not too cute.
2. He wears different costumes, so they can put him in comercials for other games and for the console in general.
3. His rough appearance lends to being cooler than Mario. Which was the key to the successful image of Genesis w/Sonic and PS1 w/Crash.



I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

 Cooler than Mario?? That's a bold statement but I do agree with the Sackboys different costumes. Sackboy can easily take on the persona of any protagonist of any AAA Sony games.

yes i think sackboy will be a great moscot, but will he sell games like how a mascot is supposed to and to a later extent systems.

i hope so, but this still remains to be seen

This. Also, it depends on how successful LBP is, u can't have a mascot for something that most people don't know about, that'd be silly. I would like to see Sackboy as the PS3 mascot because, looking at him, his personality shines even without movement, with his simple design and playful smile. Reminds me of Crash back in the PS1 days, back when he was their mascot.
