Doubtful, couldn't be any worse than what is happening to gaming right now though.

For their to be one console, 2 of the big three either have to drop out of the big 3 have to join forces. Considering they all hate each other and refuse to back down at the moment, i dont think there will ever be a single console

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Not in the traditional sense but they could as far as technology goes. It would be better for devs if consoles were technically at the same level. Sony/MS/Nintendo could then differentiate through features, online networks and, most importantly, games.

Realistically no, but there would be plau and minuses.  On the plus side we would not miss out on any game we want to buy.  On the negative side lack of competition <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> , brings lack of innovation ala the WII, lack of price drops since there is not a much incentive to drop your price when no one is on your heels.

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

If it did gaming is ruined forever because competition is what keeps the customer the center of attention. If only one hardware was on the market, competition for software would continue, but no effort would need to be put in the hardware.

Trust me competition is a good thing.

well wouldn’t they still be competing with what games they are doing? They would still try too make better FPS, Platformers, Racing etc that try’s too outdo the competition…

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Maybe some time in the future, but for now, no.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Eventually it will go to one console then disolve into multiple ones again constantly decreasing the number then expanding as the market become over saturated then cools towards one console then goes out to multiple constantly back and forth.

"Like you know"

Were such a thing to happen, another company would quickly enter the fold. Because unless that one company is making more than one console at a time, there's just too much room for variation for another company not to make money.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
