i agree sony needs a big one but microsoft needs an even bigger one... if they view nintendo as a competitor then they have to do something to try to get some of those casual gamers to buy their console... in a month or two they are about to be overtaken by nintendo... if sony wins this years E3.. and nintendo keeps going at their pace... this race is gonna get even tighter and everyone knows.... fanyboyism is gonna go up... and sales numbers are gonna be even closer for sony and MS...

Nintendo doesn't need to do jack squat. They can save their aces for when the chips are down. They don't have a lot to gain through big announcements.

 not really.

they are going agfter casual gamers, those types dont even know what E3 is. 

Best thing for nintendo is sit back and enjoy the MS vs Sony war, while they kill each other off NIn goes to the top unopposed.

Sony being in last place needs to have the biggest E3 followed by Microsoft then followed by nintendo... usually the console in 1st place really doesnt have to show much at E3 but MS cant afford to do that this year... The Wii is the hottest thing out right now... its gonna sell whether nintendo goes to E3 and tries to sell everyone hamburgers.....Microsoft being 1st in terms of sales but not the hottest console out right now cant afford to sit on their ass.. sony needs to have a good e3 since last year was dismal and full of lies..

Very objective. The most shocking is going to be that Sony doesn't know what to do with the PS3 right? Ok... I guess Home and Little Big Planet and all the new IPs that are in the works and newer ones that have yet to be announced are nothing...

Nintendo is going to do the least because they will just do more of the same because it is succeeding. They will put the least effort into their E3. Also the big Nintendo franchises are all rolling this year already, except for Mario Kart and more casual centric games they have no big cards for next year (Pikmin 3 isn't gonna cut it).

Sony is going to try to have the biggest show because they are in last. The last GDC belonged to Sony and they are going to try and drop new totally unexpected bombshells again. I wouldn't be surprised if totally unknown ideas emerge from Sony at the show a la Littel Big Planet and Home.
