Forums - Sony - In Need of Encouragement

I played through Uncharted last week in Hard mode (btw - awesome game).  I collected every trophy except for 7 treasures that I missed and, of course, the trophy for completing the game in Crushing mode.  So, I’ve started a play-through on Crushing mode and man is it difficult.  Maybe I suck, but I got stuck in the water room for what must have been 3 or 4 hours and who knows how many attempts.  Well, I finally got past it a couple of days ago.  Once I cleared the checkpoint, I turned off the game and haven’t gone back since.  I don’t think I have it in me to struggle though another level that is that difficult.  My question for those who have completed the game in that mode is -- does the game get harder from there?  Thinking back I can think of a few areas that might be a real bitch, like the upstream jetski ride or the open sections with snipers and the guys with the laser sights.  Do I go on or admit defeat?

I say play, play, play...practice makes perfect. After dying so many times, there's that feeling you get when you finally make it. I can't count how many times my character died playing the original Ninja Gaidenbut it was sweet when I finally beat it!

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

I know how you feel. I'm currently playing through on Crushing mode and was stuck at the part where the airplane crashed. It took me about an hour to get past that part. I've taken a little break from the game and have switched to PixelJunk Eden, but I will return to Uncharted soon.

It's worth playing. I just started playing through the game again since they've added trophies, and I never play any game I own on any less than the hardest available difficulty. That's just how I play..

Think of it this way, when you DO beat that section or level that was so hard, you feel like you've accomplished a lot more than had you done it against weaker AI. If you get through a level on your first try, or even your second try for that matter (dying once or twice), it's probably way too easy.

play play play, just dont get too mad and chuck you controller up the wall

But, does the game get much harder after the water room?  I just need that inkling of hope that there aren't harder parts ahead.  On the other hand, I guess I'm hearing that I should just soldier on.  I can tell you I'm definitely getting better at snapping off a head-shot in the blink of an eye.  I'm also developing strong hands from tensely gripping the controller with all of my might.

Harder? Maybe..but one thing you have to consider too is the environment. Part of the reason that area is hard is because of the environment. Another level may be harder, but with a different environment it may not be as frustrating to fail, or you may be able to manage a little better. Personal skill plays a lot into what's harder for different people.

Soldier on dude..you'll do fine.

Yeah, I understand what you mean.  The water room was tough for me because there was no decent cover anywhere and what little cover there was, other than the columns, was destructible.

I imagine that the room where the helicopter goes over your head and you got the machine gunner will be a real bitch in crushing mode.

The guy at the turret isn't really the problem. There is a Sniper's riffle behind the staircase that will deal with the guys on the opposite stairs nicely.

On Crushing, the game gets really tuff around the Monastery as more and more enemies who can kill you in 1 shot appear (Desert eagles, Magnum revolver and SPAS shotguns).

Just Hang in there! :)
