Russian military convoy heads deeper into Georgia

OUTSIDE GORI, Georgia - An Associated Press reporter has seen a convoy of several dozen Russian military trucks and armored vehicles heading out of a key city deeper into Georgia.

The development comes after a French-brokered truce which obliged Russia to withdraw its troops to positions they held before the conflict in the breakaway province of South Ossetia.

An AP reporter outside the city of Gori saw the convoy speeding past and heading south. And Georgia's Security Council chief says Russians bombed and looted Gori on Wednesday.

Abkhazian fighters plant flag inside Georgia

GANMUKHURI, Georgia - An AP reporter says a few dozen fighters from the separatist region of Abkhazia have moved into Georgian territory, planting their flag on a bridge over the Inguri River.

"This is Abkhazian land," one proclaimed. They say they are laying claim to what has historically been Abkhazian territory and that Georgian troops left without challenging them.

The fighters had moved across a thin slice of land dotted with Georgian villages.

"The border has been along this river for 1,000 years," separatist official Ruslan Kishmaria told AP on Wednesday. He said Georgia would have to accept the new border and taunted the departed Georgian forces by saying they had received "American training in running away."

I hope the UN or Nato intervenes soon before the genocide continues and the chaos spreads to other regions in eastern-Europe.

Russia's blatant lying was to be expected though. A Dutch cameraman died in Gori yesterday after a mortar-bombarded while the Russians where still claiming that they where no longer targeting Georgia anyway...

 Russia's Veto in the security council will probably make this not happen. But it could, if the UN sends a good mix of both western soldiers and soldiers from nations befriending Russia (like China)

Georgia has supported NATO in the past and its time NATO supports Georgia.

QFT. I find it appaling that the west does not give better support, probably because big bad Mother Russia is going at it. what if berlin starts to riot, and Poland decides that the best course of action is drive their army to the center of Berlin for instance.
