Forums - Microsoft - Braid needs to sell 'a lot' more to be profitable

If he was so hard up on the money aspect why not put it on PSN and PC also?

...Because it takes money that he doesn't have to put it on PSN and PC?

shio - Care to offer any proofs that Braid will outsell the XBLA version with all the wonderful PC piracy going on?

Didn't Bejeweled sell over 5 millions on PC? Piracy or no Piracy, the truth is Digital Distribution is booming on PC (Steam increased over 150% last year).

Isn't Bejeweled also a massive success and an extemely accessible game to get into? Something's telling me Braid may not find that same Bejeweled audience since it contains an abstract story and is maddeningly frustrating at times. I do wish for it hit 5 million but I don't see it happening. Do you have any digitally distributed success stories of heavily artsy games? (Not meant to start a fight, I just really don't know of any)

Braid would never reach Bejeweled numbers. PC does have many, many casual gamers though, such as online poker, sims, and what not.

I know they do. The problem with Braid compared to any of those games, and countless other digitally distributed PC successes is that Braid, while a masterpiece if there ever was one, is just not very accessible or easy. It requires the kind of thinking a lot of people just don't want to have to bother with. Also PopCap doesn't make Braid which is going to seriously hurt sales.

I'll get this great game when it hits the PSN.

Then for your sake I hope it gets ported. I'm glad you aren't unnecessarily trashing the game just because it's on the 360 and not the PS3 like you normally would do. Growing up huh?
