"NPD claims only 10% of PS2 owners have a PS3."

Just wait! PS2 owners will migrate to the PS3 soon enough! :P

But this is really interesting. This might be worth of a separate thread of its own.

So pretty much every PS3 owner had a PS2?

It's likely that PS3 owners are likely to be richer/older so are able to spend more on their gaming needs , i dought it's due to the PS3 being inadeqeut

The last time they had an NPD report on it PS3 people were the youngest and poorest.  Though that was back when the console was $600

I wonder if by more likely they mean in straight numbers... or percentage... cause if it's percentage... no duh.

Looking and DS vs PSP.  That does seem to likely be the case.  They just took a percentage rating.

In which... unless something is wrong the one with the smallest sales should have the largest percent of multiple console ownership.

Depends on how much PS2 has sold in the US.

In the realm of portables, 45% of PSP owners have a Nintendo DS, but only 21% of DS owners have a PSP.

Am I the only one who finds this quote a bit ridiculous.  I mean it is interesting information, but it is presented in an odd way.  It seems they are implying a smaller percentage of DS owners are also PSP owners, but that is going to be true no matter what, unless the PSP outsells the DS.

You're absolutely right, it is one and the same group, where the DS group looks about 50% smaller because the userbase is twice as big.

The fact that only 10% of PS2 owners have a PS3 is a given as well, considering the PS2 has sold over 40 million units and PS3 hasn't even passed the 5 million yet. More interesting is knowing almost 100% of PS3 owners must own (or has owned) a PS2, so they're not attracting any new consumers.

Link?

I remember this being the exact opposite on every report I have seen.

Yes, I also want a link...That makes no sense whats so ever. I never knew people that could afford a 600 dollar system were the poorest...The youngest? Yea right...
