Forums - Gaming - What if the PS3 sells close to 8-10 million in the U.S before FFXIII is out

it's obvious they're still working on the game and it won't be out for ages it seems.

but since they're so worried about U.S Sales and MS denying they bribed for FFXIII, what if PS3 sells 8-10 in the U.S and is ahead of the 360 (most likely) in EU by the time they finish FFXIII and released in Japan?

will they not bother having to worry about porting FFXIII to 360 and just release the game on PS3 only as usual? or even releasing it first on PS3 first?

There's still that possibility right? with the good Sony exclusives finally releasing between Oct-Feb, there's a good chance it could increase it's sales again passed the 360 along with a good price drop

i doubt that would happen. for a few reasons. mainly they already declared that they dont favor one system over the other. and besides they just want to cash in on the multiplatform.

although if say ps3 sells 15 million by the time its finished we might see that happen...unless again microsoft did infact pay for multiplatform of ffxiii

Well, if we were to assume that Microsoft didn't pay for FFXIII, then you can bet that the game will be released on the PS3 earlier than on the 360 in NA and EU since the 360 version isn't being developed until the PS3 version is complete. Furthermore, if PS3 sells a ton more units and FFXIII does overwhelmingly better on PS3 than the 360 (which an earlier release in the west would guarantee) then you can bet that FFvXIII probably won't be released on 360 and Star Ocean 4 will get a PS3 port.

However, since it's pretty much common sense and knowledge that Microsoft DID pay for FFXIII (and they've still yet to actually deny it, btw), it doesn't make a bit of difference how many PS3s are sold.

The 360 would still provide many, many millions of consumers who don't own a PS3 who might buy FFXIII.

Multiplatform is here to stay man.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Follow this, lets use the US example you mentioned. PS3 at 10 million, by that time and 17 million for x360 (just guesses of course). 27 million > 10 million. Enough said

First, let's get this out of the way: MS didn't deny money-hatting FF13, they simply tried to get gamers convinced that it was logical they didn't need to... and they did so by completely ignoring the fact that multi-disc games cost the developers more, Square probably had to break a contract w/ Sony (and lose millions), and the cost of porting may not be too well worth it if most FF fans intended to buy a PS3 anyway.

Since it has been announced, there is little reason to believe that work hasn't been started. It doesn't matter if Sony quintupples their sales starting tomorrow an never looks back, FF13 will be on the 360. Since SE has gone through the trouble of announcing it, they are already working on it. Whether MS paid anything to get that work done or not is irrelevant, as of several months ago SE decided their best bet laid upon putting the game on both systems.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Does it really matter. People should be happy its on more consoles so more people can experience it. Don't be so greedy.

doesn't really matter. xbox360s + ps3 in others and na > any of the two install base on its own.

x360 + ps3 release of ffxiii in these two territories = more money for S-E.
