Doesn't anyone see the Super Mario Brothers similarity to the point of plagiarism?

Admittedly, yes. All the rewinding, different flows of time, doppelganger co-op stuff has been done to death. Fortunately Braid doesn't rely solely on such trite platform conventions and brings some true innovations to the aging genre. Like, check this- you can jump on enemies' heads to kill them!

It's Gamespot though. Lets wait for IGN or any other reviewer that doesn't sell reviews.

Yeah but gamespot doesn't really like the 360

They like it the same as the other consoles, perhaps even more.

Rath: Just because Gamespot was revealed to "sell" review scores doesn't mean the other sites aren't guilty of it. Besides, why would an Xbox Live title from a small developer have reviews that were paid for? Grand Theft Auto 4 or Brawl would make sense, as they're large games with large budgets that are dependant on review scores to sell. Braid is, from what I've gathered, a small title so it's highly possible that it's just a good game.

I disagree.  Brawl and GTAIV were practically guaranteed to sell well based on brand name.  Review scores be damned, fans of SSB and GTA were going to buy those games.  It's on a small unknown title where a review score can make a big difference IMO.  Whether Brawl gets an 8, 9, 10, or even something lower, it will still get sales.  But if a small game from podunk, nowhere gets a high review score it'll suddenly get noticed by gamers who would have passed on it or simply never even heard of it.

My favorite part of the review is in the beginning, when they give out those picture prizes for good and bad things the game does. In the con section is only the $15 price tag, meaning Gamespot couldn't find one flaw in this game at all.

For everyone calling the Mario homage "plagiarism", you need to beat the game to grasp why Braid was created to mimic Mario in so many ways. It's intrical to the plot. I would explain it here but I don't want to spoil it for anybody, including the haters.

Just want to add my praise for this game with everyone else. Just give the trial a chance and I would say 9 out of 10 gamers will really enjoy it. I just love the dynamics and gameplay. Honestly as a puzzle game is almost perfect as your able to try over and over again within seconds and once you get it it feels real good. Is just a fun fun game.

The whole "Princess is in another castle" thing was boarder line plaigerism

Or is it that you are borderline mentally retarded?

If you played through the whole game the meaning beyond the superficial level homage may become clear.

Yes, I'm denying the Mario connection. There is NO connection, that's what "homage" means. Look it up in the dictionary.

Seriously, vgchartz needs a separate "Capable of Abstract Thought Forum" for the few members who are not 14 years old...

Your condescending attitude is not welcome.  You can participate in the debate or you can choose not to, but leave the insults out of it.

Just wanted to agree with WoW.

Never was excited about this game until review scores started pouring in.

Wow, I might buy it.
