Forums - Gaming - gamespot reviews braid!!! a 9.5

i wondered why i never heard of it lol

Wahoo PC!  I knew there was a reason I didn't buy a 360.  The game looks solid.  Definately a Mario Bros clone, but in my eyes that's only a good thing.  The whole "Princess is in another castle" thing was boarder line plaigerism but most games individual parts in games these days are taken from other games.  I love platformers, which is why I have entirely too many VC games.  It really makes me wish Nintendo would go back and make a sequal to either Super Mario World 3 or Super Mario Land for WiiWare.

I heard from local revewiers and friend that Braid was great. But so great, like 9.5, that is close to absoluty masterpiece. I didnt se that coming. I will, easily, get this and enjoy a platformer like Braid.

SUPER!

interesting

I found the mario reference highly amusing to be honest but braid really isn't mario, its got its own unique feel. Its a brilliant game judging by how great the demo was.

It got 10.0 from CVG. Seems pretty brilliant, if I ever get a X360 this will be one of the first things I play (after Rez HD of course).

Doesn't anyone see the Super Mario Brothers similarity to the point of plagiarism?

Admittedly, yes. All the rewinding, different flows of time, doppelganger co-op stuff has been done to death. Fortunately Braid doesn't rely solely on such trite platform conventions and brings some true innovations to the aging genre. Like, check this- you can jump on enemies' heads to kill them!

This is the best post in the history of vgchartz.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Or is it that you are borderline mentally retarded?

If you played through the whole game the meaning beyond the superficial level homage may become clear.

ha yea even though it has a ton of elements that are way different and what not.

You can't deny the mario level of it. You jump on an enemy to beat it, there was a flag that lowered at the end by a castle, and someone said the princess is in another castle.

If you don't see that as "MARIO" then you sir need to maybe get help from a special ed teacher.
