Forums - Microsoft - New Game Reccomendations Thread: What to add?

It seems that with the new price drop, RPGs, and various other reasons, more VGC-ers are buying X360s. We have the Game Reccomendation thread, but I have yet to update it in quite some time.

So lets get the ball rolling with new suggestions. I will post a few games that I want to add..Lets get more reccomendations.

I want good games on the list, preferably exclusives, or very good multi-plat games. For multi-plats, lets keep them to cheap titles, if possible.

Shooters - FPS, TPS, Horror
Name  Released  MSRP  Multiplayer   Why to Buy

 Condemned: Criminal Origins

 Nov. 2005  <$29.99  No

Scary. Despite being a first-gen launch title, it still remains one of the scariest to date. 15+ Hrs. Get it before the sequal comes out

Earth Defense Force 2017  Mar. 2007  <$39.99  2p Offline Co-Op    A quirky B-rate Sci-Fi Shootem up. You fight litterally hundreds of enemies onscreen at once. With 2 players doing co-op, one of the funnest arcade-like titles in ages.
Ghost Recon: Adv. Warfighter  Mar. 2006  <$29.99  4p S/S, 8p Online    Fantastic demonstration of X360 graphical powers. The first truely next-gen TPS game on the system. Still has MP Players online. Better than GRAW2, IMO.
Gears of War  Nov 2006  <$39.99  2p Co-Op, 8p Online    Obvious elite uber-title. Huge online community despite being 1yr old. Must-have TPS title. Great co-op SP mode.
Call of Duty 2  Nov. 2005  <$29.99  4p S/S, 8p Online    Best COD, aside from maybe 4. Still has an online community, and incredibly fun.
Perfect Dark Zero  Nov 2005  <$19.99  4p S/S, 16p Online/Offline    Despite being semi-weak in some areas, the 16p Bot Matches are still awesome fun. Incredibly cheap too.
Far Cry Instincts: Predator  May 2006  <$19.99  4p+ Online/Offline    Not for everyone, but the map maker/editor is a blast to play on with friends offline. Very long SP mode.
Rainbow Six Vegas  Nov. 2006  <$39.99  8p+ Online, 4p S/S    Best Rainbow Six game to date. Huge online community, and great varied game modes.

FPS Games to Add: Bioshock, Condemned 2, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4.

Racers, Sports, and Fighters

Name   Released MSRP   Multiplayer Why to Buy
Need for Speed: Most Wanted  Nov. 2005  <$29.99  2p+ Off/Online  Best NFS title to date. Open-world roaming makes it an awesome title. Much better than Carbon.
Test Drive Unlimited  Aug. 2006  <$39.99  4p+ Online and MMO  Awesome open-world arcade-ish racer. Still has a decent online community, and huge back-catalog of DLC. No other game allows for a 150+ Mile race around Hawaii
Forza Motorsports 2  May 2007  <$59.99  8p+ Online, 4p Offline  THE sim-racer title. Should be cheaper by now due to pack-ins.
Fight Night Round 3  Feb. 2006  <$29.99  2p Online/Offline  Fantastic boxing game with perfect next-gen visuals.
 Ridge Racer 6  Nov 2005  <$19.99  8p Online, 2p+ S/S  Old forgotten Ridge Racer. If you like ultra arcad-y racing, it's still a fantastic buy a $20.
Dead or Alive 4  Jan. 2006  <$29.99  2p Online/Offline  Near-Perfect fighting game. Still has an online community as far as I know. Incredibly difficult too.
Project Gotham Racing 3  Nov 2005  <$19.99  4p+ Online/Offline  Great arcade-style racer. As good as PGR4 without the price, or motorcycles.

Games to Add: Project Gotham Racing 4

Role-Playing

Name   Released  MSRP  Multiplayer  Why to Buy
Oblivion  Mar. 2006  >$29.99  No  Best RPG for the 360, arguably. GOTY Edition w/ Shivering Isles is $60, but you can get the non-SI version for $30-ish. You'll get addicted
Blue Dragon  Aug. 2007  >$39.99  No  Fantastic JRPG for those that enjoy the SNES RPGs. Price has taken a nose dive at many stores. Definate pickup for the JRPG enthusiast.
Enchanted Arms  Aug. 2006  >$24.99 Yes   Someone will kill me for mentioning it. But for the price, it's a decent little first-gen JRPG that lasts 40hrs. Watch out for Omega.

Games to Add: Two Worlds (low reccomendation, but I will since it's cheap), Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey.

Action/Adventure/Ect

Name   Released  MSRP Multiplayer  Why to Buy
Dead Rising  Aug. 2006  $29.99  No  The best *gem* on the list. Not for everyone, but Capcom and Resident Evil lovers will enjoy this sandbox-style survival game with a serious, and funny storyline.
Kameo Nov. 2005   $19.99  2p Online/Offline  Awesome under-mentioned platformer from Rare. Not a Banjo-Kazooie, but 20 hours of definate fun. Great multiplayer aspects too.

Saints Row  Sept. 2006  >$39.99  8p+ Online  Good GTA-Clone game with much improved various addons. Has multiplayer, that when works, is phenominal.

If theres any wrestling fans out there i highly reccomend smackdown vs raw 2007..... its still very popular online and its miles better than smackdown vs raw 2008..... also the games below all have exclusive multiplayer on xbox 360.....

Virtua tennis 3
Virtua fighter 5
Tony hawks poject 8

And despite no multiplayer condemned 1 owns condemned 2 and will be cheap now

If theres any retro fans out there who want to play online co-op on these classic fighters.... Streets of rage 2, Golden axe or Double dragon just gimme a shout

You could also add an XBLA section. This summer is looking really good for arcade titles. In the past 2 days I've bought Geo Wars 2 and Braid, and both are worth getting, despite Braid's higher price.

I can only recommend Burnout: Revenge so many times before it starts to get annoying.

Hates Nomura.

Is this just an arbitrary list of games? I can't understand why a few extremely mediocre (or even lousy) games are on the recommendation list while some far superior games are not.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Lost Odyssey-best JRPG on 360(for now anyway)

I'm not sure, but I think he means "for the price".

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

The list is old, and the focus was on cheaper games in the back catalog.

Which games do you have an issue with?
