Sega and Nintendo both had thier own software and Hardware developers...... Sony didn't even like games back in the early 90's look around the web, theres tonnes of quotes from sony showing that they looked down upon gaming.... and they only got involved in gaming once ken kutugari got back to them with the hardware and software ideas he stole from nintendo..... so is it alright to steal and basically stick two fingers up at everybodyelse? Sony have lots of studios now... but when they first started in gaming they had NOTHING... even their 1st two popular franchises were not made by sony... Tekken (Namo made it) and Wipeout (Psygnosis).... so yeah, they may have 19 studios now... but they tread on a lot of feet and paid a lot of money for their success and thats the be all and end all of it.... so the next time a sony fanboy complains about microsoft buying things.... check your histroy first huh ; |
You talk about businesses like they are individuals , you neglect the fact that they are organisations established for the sole purpose of making a profit ,not to make the consumer happy (that's an objective which helps them fulfil their aim). I'm sure Nintendo or Sega wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice your happiness in exchange for $1 Billion extra profit next quater so before you start attacking Sony keep in mind Nintendo and Sega haven't become the companies today purley because of their enthuisiasm for games like all companies they are driven by profitability to differentiate themselves from the competitor.
I'm not sure about Sega & Nintendo's practices but it's highly likely that they bought out start up's and pre existing development studios to help their respective businesses grow. You may not see it but there are very distinct similarities in the way Sony , Nintendo and Microsoft operate.
