Forums - Gaming - Looking for a fighter: Burst Limit or Soul Calibur IV?

Not really interested in Virtua Fighter, but I do want an HD fighting game for my PS3.  I'm putting it in gaming disucssion since both games are multiplat and I figure the small differences between the PS3 and 360 versions shouldn't be enough to make 360 owner input invalid.  I've bought 5 games for my PS3 so far and am very happy with my purchase, but just want to add a little more variety to my collection.

The things I care about most:

How long each game will have fresh content.
How easy it is to pick up and play, even for non-gamers.
How combo focused it is (don't want too much combo focus)

Sorry but Burst limit is a huge dissapointment; The game is great if you didn't have played the other games. Did ya tried the demo's?

Demo for Burst Limit was too short to find anything out.  There isn't one for SCIV is there?

I should note the game I want the most is Ultimate Ninja Storm, but it won't be out for a while.

Soulcalibur, though its a bit short. Online is fun, and creating a character is fun.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

The Dragonball fighting games are pretty mediocre in the first place, and I hear Burst Limit continues the trend.

Soul Calibur 4 is, from what I hear, continuing the tradition of its series as well. It's the same button mashing as always, so your latter 2 needs will be fully covered. Plus, Soul Calibur 4 has more people online to play with, and you won't have to play against people using Yoda.

I recommend Soul Calibur 4.

Soul Calibur 4 is the way to go on this one (unless you are a dedicated DBZ fan).

-SC4 has already had DLC in it's first week and is expected to have much more later, there are also modes that add RPG elements to the game as well as character creation.
-SC4 is very newbie friendly and is deep at the same time.
-SC4 CAN be combo focused, but there are still more one hit moves going on.
-the analog stick, face buttons and Dpad on the 360 are clearly not meant for fighting games, you'd benefit by getting the PS3 version instead.

if you're looking for a simple game, you might not want to go with Soul Calibur. If I remember correctly, the DBZ games have always had a disappointingly small number of attacks that are easy to string together into combos. Soul Calibur definitely focuses on combos, but they're much harder to achieve.

I dunno, from reviews (and basically everyone else I've talked to here and everywhere else) button mashing can easily get you lots of wins in SCIV.  Which I guess isn't a bad thing for casual players being able to play me.

i recommend Soul Calibur 4, character customization is awesome and you can use them online and in every mode, also there's a lot to unlock!!

also, you can customize the buttons L1,L2,R1,R2 and set each to be two or more buttons so the combos can be used better, also useful online!

*if you like DragonBall get the Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for Wii, it has more characters and everything.... (and it's awesome)

Pass on both.

Burst Limit for above reasons.

Pass on SCIV because apparently they took out Team mode, Exhibition mode, and Weapon Master mode. Also it seems that a lot of the characters are just clones of other characters.

Save your money and wait for Naruto.
