Forums - Microsoft - Looks like Tales of Vesperia has had a good debut in Japan...

This should easily outsell Blue Dragon.

If it doesn't...well...there's always Tales of Hearts. *shrugs*

ToV might outsell BD in Japan and in the West if Namco Bandai actually try to market it there this time

Seriously what about 30 billion in losses aren't you getting haha. Is this just flying over your head or are you simply avoiding the truth on purpose.

Would you mind posting a link to where it is stated they have made a 30 billion loss? Or is this one of those made up figures that sounds good to fuel your fanboy post? In terms of R&D for a console, it is very doubtful it would exceed $1-2 billion, let alone 30. They are trying to launch a console afterall, not a space shuttle.

You didn't read much of what I said. Sounds like you simply found a part of it and flew with it haha. Not put them out of business but take them down a notch. Drop them in market share for probably ultimately buying them out haha. And if not that keeping them from competing with them in other markets. There's a reason MS backed HD-DVD haha.

I'm not saying MS wouldn't like to win the console wars or make profits... but I think that would only be a bonus to their current agendas for this market. Goes along with why they are so focused on the PS3 and why so lenient with the Wii while possibly even trying to make "friends" with Ninty. Go figure.

What I'm taking issue with is that you're faulting MS for trying to make money with their console. That IS their current agenda. It's the same as Sony's current agenda and Nintendo's current agenda. They are focused on the PS3 because they know they are not going to beat Nintendo. And Sony is focused on the 360 because they know they're not going to beat Nintendo. Sony is copying Nintendo and MS and MS is copying Sony and Nintendo.

Of COURSE they want to take their competition down a notch. That's what EVERY company wants to do. That's how business WORKS!! And I guarantee you that MS has no illusions that they'll eventually buy out Sony. And MS backed HD DVD because BluRay was an unproven, Sony-owned technology. They backed HD-DVD but likely had no intention of ever using it for games anyway. HD-DVD died, MS didn't have to worry about losses on their console, and that was that. MS is now able to lower prices, and Sony is not. Which CONSOLE really won that particular war?

Trolling post?

I don't see how it's trolling, but it is certainly unsubstantiated and off-topic.  Quite a few people are off-topic as a matter of fact.  If you guys want to continue this discussion start another thread, this thread has little/nothing to do with MS profits and losses.

Wow great for the 360!

I still remember that when Tales of Syphonia came out, it helped the Gamecube to beat the PS2 in sales for one week. The Tales series is becoming quite the little system booster. B-N are smart because each Tales game seems to bring more customers into the fold and each new debut helps the title to garner some media attention. Maybe one day it will make inroads to the Final Fanstasy and Dragon Quest series dominance in Japan.

Wii - 3810 4459 0841 8442 - (Message me to add me)

360 - LuminalACE

PS3 - AUS-ACE

Looks löike a sponsored marketing gag with some students.

I didn't know Tale has such a big following that they are willing to buy the 360. May be that's why all the "facepalm", they resign to the fact that they have to buy 360 to play this game.

This is really great, I hope Microsoft have a follow up plan for around December and then in March. (May be Infinite Undiscovery & then SO4).

They really need to stagger their Japan releases to be more effective.

Could the 360 move 10k units? i think it is possible.

It's not so much that people hated Tales because of the demo, but hated the fact that the demo wasn't that great. It just threw you into a random part of the game with very little explanation of the Tales battle system.

FYI: Play Asia is totally out of stock of the ToV bundles...And it looks like they're not getting anymore in.

Yep, getting frustrated playing a demo isn't pleasent, I had deleted it from my HDD within 5 minutes. I basically wrote off the game has crap and wondered what was the big fuss about the Tales series..
