not bad at all.

That's 16% increase in their life span.

"Right now we have over 12 million users in over 26 countries, with USD 240 million in transactions revenue so far, with USD 180 million in the last 12 months alone," Salcedo said.

Good to see that sales are increasing.

I wonder if that's DLC-Only or DLC + other XBL content, such as games?

At any rate, I bet that the lion's share of the income is from Shivering Isles, Halo 3, and CoD4 map packs.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Great news! I lover DLC and Arcade in most cases, as long as they don't charge for things that should have been in the games in the first place. I hope XBL/PSN/Wii online networks just continue to grow.

Just kiss the tip.

Mr. Stickball, what about Mass Effect "Bringing Down the Sky"? I'm sure that has gotten quite a few downloads.

From my estimations, Bringing Down the Sky has sold anywhere from 40,000-80,000 copies right, give or take. At $5, it doesn't rival H3, CoD4, or SI.

Sorry mrstickball, this should have been your thread.
Thanks for all your work on XBL.

I must say its awesome! I wonder if it can hit $300 million in the 12months from November?

Tease.

The most interesting part I saw was that $180 million of the total came within the last 12 months. That's a huge growth over the first year and a half of the xbox's lifespan. With growth like that it definitely sets itself up as being a very big money stream for MS and other companies.

Rock Band DLC?  Mediocre Guitar Game 3 DLC?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

On the other hand, I'm sure many (like myself) waited for the first Halo map pack to become free, and are following a similar policy with regard to the second.

I'm not doubting that tons of people bought them, I'm just saying the situation is a little more complex than it seems.  Also, doesn't Rock Band move a ton of DLC?
