there is proof that he is emo. play the game again and if you look at it, you'll realize that the theme of cloud is emo.

but i concede the fact that he did save people etc. however, i saw from final fantasy 7 another character who saved more people, including that guy cloud, which effectively eliminated him from my list.

aeris is the real hero of ff7.

1) How in the world did you come to that conclusion?

a. Cloud's theme is  the open world theme, which sounds nothing of the sort.  It starts off slow gradually going along and right at the end it reaches a climax which leaves on more of an accomplished/overcome/victory feeling like a weight was lifted.

2) And who did she save?  If you're referring to Holy, it didn't stop meteor.  That was the lifestream.

3) I thought this was about the most inspiring characters, not about credibility like who saved the most, who did the most or who is the most powerful.

1.) play the game again and take note of cloud's dialogue, mannerisms, and susceptibilities.
-
2.) at one point in the game (which leads to her death) she breaks away from the group in order to do something that she alone can do, being the only one of her ancient race still living. and what she did succeeded. holy didn't stop meteor alone, but if you check out the final scenes of the game's ending movie, you'll see aeris' face in a green background. i saw that as a very clear showing of her will powering the lifestream to act.
-
3.) yes it is about inspiring characters. and again, cloud just doesn't inspire me because of A.) he himself was saved by a greater person, and B.) he was emo.
-
aeris, on the other hand, was something else. i even say that her death was the catalyst and inspiration that made cloud and the others want to stop sephiroth even more. this claim is further strengthened by aeris' role in advent children. she wasn't really there, yet she obviously keeps appearing as some kind of guardian angel over him, watching over him and keeping him out of trouble.
-
if you watch the movie, its very very very obvious that cloud's main inspiration was aeris.
-
so yeah, aeris > cloud.

Its a bit Off topic, but is it just me, or would anyone else like to see Link losing hope, feeling all is lost, and get talked out of his depression by Midna/Navi equivalent

so yeah, aeris > cloud.

 1) Don't need to, you do however.

2) There are several theories that go with this event.   One of them is the one you mentioned, another is that she saw into the future, in that it was a repeat of what you see during the beginning of FF7.  Also, Aeris doesn't have control over the planet's power, only the planet does which of course the lifestream is apart of.  Want proof of this?  Geostigma.  Aeris doesn't want to hurt anyone.  However, geostigma does hurt people and it comes from the planet.

3) It doesn't matter if Cloud doesn't inspire you specifically, if you're going to criticize him for not being inspiring as you believe, for the love of zeus use logic and not "because he's emo".  You know, I could use "because she's dead" to criticize Aeris.  You don't hear from Aeris half of the game so her presence becomes less noticeable and effective to the player.  Besides, how exactly did Aeris inspire Cloud or anyone?  Have you ever taken into account that Cloud and the others wanted to just kill Sephiroth to begin with?  There were several other events that angered Cloud and Tifa through Sephiroth's actions.  Inspiration can fuel a person to do something, but in this case that "inspiration" was Sephiroth.  Cloud and Tifa already wanted to kill him, Aeris was just added to the list to fuel that need to get JUSTICE.  Aeris didn't inspire them to do anything they weren't already trying to do.

4) oh yeah this "aeris>cloud" doesn't help you.  Keep the debate clean and substantial.  This thread doesn't need to resort to fanboyism like the millions of others.

That wouldn't be too bad of a storyline actually.
