Forums - Gaming - CNET.com - "Why Microsoft Should Aquire Sony's Gaming Division"

Why would they need Sony gaming division? Cell has shown to be underachiving, sony studios arent really moving consoles with their games, they already share pretty much all the great exclusives....

Bluray is the only aspect which could seem interesting but even that would be counter-productive of their goal for digital distribution.

It eliminates competition. Why did you think M$ tried to acquire yahoo? It has nothing to do with cell's performance. They could just use sony's studios to make xbox games and maybe keep the playstation name to remain strong in JP.

I don't think sony will be selling by the way.

Worst article i would say.. Sony was successful for the last two generation and they r losing this generation because of their arrogance and nothing else... But MS has so far not shown any innovation or creativity in console market so far.. so if they buy Sony gaming division (which they can) then it will be the end of competition in consoles for once and forvever... and Nintendo will have the easy field for the rest of the days of this world...

This analyst sucks. Hes obviously been inhaling some serious fumes

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

MS went after yahoo to compete with google in the search market. Yahoo was not MS's competition at all. But yes, it would eliminete competition for 360 I guess... but who of us consumers would want that?

Wow, what an embarrassment to Sony's gaming division for Cnet to post an article like that!

I won't want that but you have to admit that it will be good for M$ because with the path Nintendo has taken. M$ would have the whole ps360 crowd in its pockets and not even have to worry about buying/losing 3rd party exclusives because their games would be built for 360 only or wii only for the most part. They could increase xbox live to $100/year and not worry much because their customers would have no choice.

They tried to aquire yahoo to compete with google for advertising $$$ because they are trailing behind google big time.

What an embarassment to MS as well.  They are saying that they cannot compete with Sony or Nintendo, so they have to spend billions to eliminate the competition and buy their way to second place.

Sony never tried to buy them because they thought ninty posed no threat so you never know. Companies can be forcefully/systematically taken over as well. Think EA and Take-Two even though it didn't happen.
