Forums - Gaming - Where is the jump button?

Meh, SNES games needed a jump button more than any other system's games.

I'm still amazed at the fact that heroes that can summon meteors from the sky and bring fiery death to their enemies are completely defeated by a 1' high fence (like in Earthbound).

I want a jump button in life.

Me too... as long as it's Moon Jump and not a normal jump.

Who remembers Moon Jump btw?

This is also an oldie: Where is the submarine?!

So one day, I'm doing this thing, and someone that doesn't have as much experience with that specific thing comes up and asks me a general question about that thing.

What the hell is wrong with some people!?

Listen to this guy. You can't expect teachers and stuff that DON'T PLAY VIDEO GAMES to know that many video games these days do not have a jump button (which is a basic function).

That's like when I let people play Wii Tennis for the first time and they ask me how to move the guy (after I explain the rest of the controls) I just have to tell them that YOU CAN'T. How the hell were they supposed to know? Moving is a basic function too, I can't blame them for asking about it.

Just my opinion.

# of games above 75 on Metacritic (including downloadable):

360: 241     DS: 144

PS3: 152     PSP: 126

Wii: 85

i think a jump button should be pretty standard right now, i cant think of really any game where you control a person shouldn't jump

If these people that picked up Heavenly Sword and Crisis Core are asking about where the jump button is, do you suppose it's because they felt the need to jump in the game? In that case, maybe there was need for the option after all. Regarding Patapon, you can't seriously expect anyone looking over your shoulder to comprehend anything about that game, let alone a jump function.

jumping = immersion for most genres. i'm a person and i can do certain things and for an immersive game those actions should be included.

i mean, i could get through a game without moving backwards by going forward and turning a lot but that would be retarded. so is the inability to jump over 1 foot obstacles.

play Killzone, you have to time your jumps otherwise you cant jump at all. That is a good mechanic. It removes the bunny hopping online.
