Atlus loves PS2=confirmed. Seems like it is one of those games that were made mostly for the Japanese audience like Ar Tonelico

Yep, this and Ar Tonelico 2 looks great.

@ kasz

It seems that Atlus is trying to get their fans to upgrade with their 3 Xbox 360 exclusives. (although they don't seem successful, but that's just because Operation Darkness sucked.)

And Spectral Forces 3 is following suit (4.9 on IGN). Besides, those titles weren't developed by Atlus, just published by Atlus USA. We haven't yet seen any Atlus title for a nex gen console except for Trauma Center

That's just because HD consoles have artificial graphic requirements.

From what i've read in the reveiws the gameplay is pretty good standard JRPG goodness it's just the promise of good visuals doesn't play through.

That's one problem SRPGs and RPGs are mostly made by your small studios who can't afford big time graphics. I mean look at the Metacritic exerts... most notably

"Pretty or not, no JRPG on the 360 has the edge on Spectral Force 3 in terms of gameplay. In other words, it has a great personality."

Metacritic review score... 67?!

That's irrelevant to me since I generally play the RPGs from the big companies.  However, if I wasn't busy playing other games, I'd play Persona 3 FES in a heartbeat

Eh... I guess. However i'd say that the bigger companies often steal ideas from the smaller companies to make their own games better.

For example Final Fanasy Tactics would of never existed if it weren't for Quest.

Even some of the bigger budget companies don't give big budgets to their JRPGs and these are often some of the most well remembered games by fans of the genre.

These are the reasons the DS and PSP get so much RPG love.

I get what you're saying, I can't say 'cause I know nothing about the game, we'll have to wait to see how they rate Disgaea later this month, the gameplay we do know it'll be as solid as the others. I wonder if they'll take it down due to its graphics, it would be a poor excuse, ecerybody knows Disgaea's strength lies in its deep gameplay

Disgaea MAY be saved by being a sequel of a popular franchise.  Otherwise i'd expect it to score in the mid 70's at best.

Good job Atlus, let's keep those JRPG's coming :)

I'm a firm believer that no other system will ever match the RPG goodness that is the PS2.

Except the SNES which already has.

Sounds really good. I think I'm gonna buy this game when it comes out.

that's because Idea Factorty continually makes generic RPG's over and over again.
