Played twice at friend's house. It was a good "simulation" racer good graphics. My personal pref isn't simulation though and I have more fun on Excite Truck. Granted, completely different game, but more fun to me. Only wish it had the online play Motorstorm has, to make up for that though, Excite Truck has a much better solo play setup.

Has anyone played motorstorm and dirt? They are much more alike and would make a good comparison.

I actually don't see any mention of nintendo either, besides a reference to kart style racing games similar to mario kart...aka not mario kart specifically, but "mario-kart like"...

How about you Sony fanboys stop acting as if the entire forum is wii loving sony haters and try to understand that people can disagree with a statement about sony without automatically being a fanboy for another console.  Notice, I'm only referring to the sony fanboys, not the sony fans...sony fans are just as rational as everyone else, its just the fanboys (of all ilk) that see the world through coloured lenses.

I have no idea what he even means by half of what he just said. Better solo play setup? simulation? if its a simulation then Mario Kart and Excite Truck are simulations of arcade racers.  

 True I do say alot of off the wall crap. But what I meant by simulation was realistic look and feel, not akin to MS Flight Simulator realism. Granted a semi could not race in real life like it does in Motoracer, but, the graphics and overall feel of the is more realistic than Excite Truck or Mario Karts by a long shot.  I do think Excite Truck has better solo play though. The numerous tracks and levels in Excite Truck are much more entertaining than what exists in Motorstorm. The only reason I would own Motostorm is for the online play.

For me the difference between Motorstrom and Mario Kart is this.

When i play mario kart i know it is all in good fun and don't take it seriously. I have had games that had to be paused becuase of laughter. I know the person that wins is the one that doesn't get hit buy the silly weapon on the last corner and have no problems with loosing. I have fun no mater what happnes

When I play Motorstorm i play to win. If someone takes me out I don't laught I swear revenge. I put everything into it. I despair in defeaft and revel in victory. i think this is hat the OP means by intense.

I know both type will  appeal to different people but I actually like both.

I think it achieves enough of the rich balance between Arcade and Sim for me that I enjoy it. I am definitely not a big racing game guy but I like the game. It's good but it's not great. It is also very impressive graphically.

I like the multi-player aspect, though the single player is ok. I do wish they had split screen for a offline versus.

One thing I guess is good is that they will be updating Motorstorm over time. The Time trail is now here (yes should of being a standard), but nonetheless, it shows that they are willing to add more features in the future. Lets hope for new traces and vehicles :D

One thing Motorstorm does have is the different routes for different types of vehicles - I haven;t seen that before. It allows you to play any style you like :D
