Why do people even care what Sony PR says? Or any PR for that matter?

They're dumb.

Why we even post this stuff is beyond me.

Because if you Nintendo said something equally as stupid you would be the first one posting it reveling in the feast that would ensue.

If sony officially announces something, its news and its going to be talked about. Just because it makes you cringe doesn't mean it not something worth sharing. This gives us an excellent insight into the company Sony now is.

Yeah, okay sure.

I think you give the inner fanboy in me too much credit.  He's not that bad.

I would post it, but only because every Ninitendo fanboy/girl is so quick to post any sort of PR from Sony or Microsoft that calls the Wii a fad for the same exact reason.

It would be nice for people to get a taste of their own medicine.

But I wouldn't revel in the feast that would ensue, I would just hope that people would get over the fact that PR is dumb, and the only people who even listen to  what PR says are gamers who don't believe a word that comes out of their mouth, and don't care about all the BS they spew about 10-year life cycles, Wii being a fad, or added memory for Geeks and Otaku.  This isn't reported on mass media outlets, and it's not in the mainstream, because they don't care.  If they don't, why do we?

99% of the stuff we post on VGchartz isn't posted on mass media outlets, what's your point.

Oh and I'm sure we'll get a taste of our own medicine just as soon as Nintendo ever does anything like shoot themselves in the foot with a console like the PS3 and is then forced to make rancidly ignorant statements guised as PR announcements. Until then though we'll just have to settle for people trying to misconstrew everything Nintendo says in the most benign and humble of manners as being negative or unfavorable... Look no further than the thread: "Iwata: we don't want to compete in the Online arena." Or however it was worded.

Bottom line, you're just making excuses for why we shouldn't pay attention to Sony's PR because it bugs you to see people ragging on them. If Sony felt it was worth announcing there's no reason to say it shouldn't be posted.

Part of the reason people care is because watching Sony's PR recently has been like driving past an awful accident, one part of you doesn't want to look at the carnage and another part can't look away.

For me, the other part is not so much what is being said as who is saying it ... When you have high level executives (who will have a huge impact on the direction of the entire Playstation line in the comming years) say things which not only demonstrate they have little understanding of the success of the Nintendo DS or Wii but also demonstrate a lack of understanding of the market as a whole it says a lot about why they're in the position they are.

It's clearly obvious that you didn't read a single line in my post, so I'm done arguing this non-point with you.

Have a nice day.

Yes, it's like an awful accident on an abandoned road that no one drives on.

In the grand Scheme of things, the only place where PR matters is the place where it'll do them no good.  PR is only good for the mass media, as you're trying to sell your systems.  Gamers know better.  We all know the Wii isn't a fad, and that the PS3 won't have a ten year life-cycle.  There's no way anyone in their right mind would believe that.  This only matters to gamers, who don't care anyway is my point.

You still complaining about this DMeisterJ? You're basically the only person keeping this thread going that you insist isn't worth even talking about.
