Forums - Sony - Snakeball?

This is the first new release onto PSN that totally snuck up on me...I haven't even seen a picture, a thread, a comment...nothing....

Anyone get this?  what the heck is it?  and is it any good?

Thank you for inquiring about my favourite PSN game. It was released in December, but you could only buy it by downloading the demo and buying the game from inside the demo. This process was so confusing that few people bought it, so they released a stand alone purchase option last Thursday. Try the demo (its not in the new release section). The demo does not have the online mode though, which is where this game shines (when you can find other players) but I am always up for a game.

I saw you were playing this yesterday...which caused the whole 'WTF is that' thing to start...I'll check it out...maybe I'll buy it if you assure me there is no way you can run me over with a tank in snakeball

I need to keep a few games around my future wife likes...as long as she likes the PS3, then I can play as much as I like.

Oh, it is a great game for beginners, women, children and people like me who like cute quirky games. You gobble up balls around the map which makes your snake longer, which you can use to your advantage in ensnaring your competition. There are also levels with weapons. You can play up to 4 people on your console plus have people from online join in. Sometimes lag is a problem since you are playing Snakeballers from all over the world. The online community is pretty small though and it takes patience to find an opponent, but you can start the game against your friends in splitscreen or with AI players while you wait for an online person to wander in.

The game cannot practically be shared with people you don't know though. For every 5 times you play it with a profile who is not the purchaser, you have to reactivate it by launching the game with the original account.

Everyone should try the demo and check out the trailers. The music, and cute characters are sure to win your hearts. :)

love the music in this game

Is the game anything like the classic Snake?

It is inspired by Snake and like Snake, you go around the playfield picking up objects to grow while avoiding obstacles, your own tail, and in multiplayer mode, your opponents. Try the demo. You have to look for it by alphabetical order because they didn't bump up the demo like they did for the full game by putting it into the new releases.

Had fun playing this online with Dogs last night, I think its for sure worth the cash, very fun casual, but competitive game.  Why oh why Sony has not marketed their PSN titles hard to the casual market is beyond me.

Hell, I bought the Skiing game for 2.99 last night, even that was good for the price..and tell me if Im nuts, but the sixaxis controls when programmed right actually feel more accurate/precise than the wiimote to me?

Anytime you want to play let me know. People mentioning Snakeball makes my ears perk up and my tail wag. I'm always up for a game.
