Forums - Gaming - Could Phantasy Star Portable sales lead the way for Phantasy Star V?

Any one else come to this conclusion? I am very excited about PSP sales. With Phantasy Star sales never being huge (or even trackable in I-IV's case)

Who else would love to see a ressurection of the *real*, non-Online Phantasy Star series? I know I would. I beat III and IV, and have played both I and II, with II and IV being the best of the series. I'll even go out and say that Phantasy Star did quite a bit more for innovative game play than Final Fantasy did, at the time. Yet very few recognize the impact that PS had on the JRPG world.

Anyone want to speculate, or post their support for the Phantasy Star series?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I think so. Especially since many younger gamers will probably only find, out of those 4 Phantasy Star games, PSIV to be playable by today's standards. We just have to see how well Phantasy Star Portable sells in the West(if it ever gets releases in the West)

Here is an old interview I had(together with another freelancer called Heidi Kemps) with Rieko Kodama. She wouldnt mind making a fifth one.

Edit: Here is the link: http://www.the-nextlevel.com/feature/interview-rieko-kodama/

Also its supposed to be longer, dunno what happened with it.

I will have to contact the site.

One my familiar guy, already downloaded japanese verison from torrents, and said that Phantasy Star Portable is VERY addictive. It doesn`t differ much from a home console game, but has it`s story and etc.

I never played the old ones, but I did enjoy PS Online quite a bit. If they make a new, high quality one I'd probably play it.

Right now, people are just hoping for a Phantasy Star Portable to hit the United States, not Phantasy Star V.

Off-topic:

I can't say how happy I am about PSPs sales. I knew this game could do very well with the MH crowd. Legs should be good.

The first 3 games are in the Sega Genesis Collection for PSP, I never really tried them. Maybe I should.

Edited my post to include the link, it was conducted in 2004.

I will be visiting Sega(and a bunch of other companies as well) in about two weeks when I return to Japan to conduct interviews.

Hope to get a chat with Kodama again when im over.

Phantasy Star Universe was disappointing but I might check PSP out if it ever comes out in the US
