Spectrumglr,

we know the sales : VGChartz.

Their price drop was a complete failure.

PS3 at 300$ would be at 100k/weekly, not at 60k ...

Even more, since PAL = europe + others
if u take away others
then Xbox360 weekly sales are really low ...

if you knew vgchartz sales you'd also know that x360 has doubled its sales in Others compared to 2007: i wouldn't call it a failure

Considering it's sales were dirt low during most of 2007 that isn't saying much...

Thats just fanboyism talk.

Indeed it is.

As I've seen, if the sales more then doubled this year from last year after two years on the market...is it not possible the sales may even triple what they once were?

We know Japan's stating to take a liking to it, and the Ams already love it. We'll see.

Thank you for your support after all facts are facts.

So selling a pitiful 5000 a week in Japan prior to the release of a big game and a 2-3000 average every other time equals the japanese taking a liking to the system?

Even if Xbox trippled sales in Europe compared to last year it would still only be on parity with the Ps3...And only due to a price drop which has only a temporary effect. The Ps3 still has much room to drop the price.

Problem with your argument is that the X360 has constantly been selling more units than normal for a month for no discernable reason in terms of a "big" game. Whereas the PS3 just had MGS4 a few weeks ago, and is down to normal, if not worse sales. So there's quite a difference there. What if the X360 is within 3,000 units of the PS3 in Japan this week, or closer? Not good news for Sony.

The whole issue is that the Xbox 360 is not only attempting to be at parity with the PS3, but the fact is, the X360 does have that whole advantage of 5.5m units that Sony is having a tougher and tougher time overcoming.

This entire year, the PS3 has had the momentum - closing the gap by 1.5m units. But with the way things are becoming in Japan, a price drop speculated next month in the US (and a very good drop too), and a stronger-than-PS3 holiday lineup...It would see that the advantage Sony has had in the first half of the year might not be there.

So I ask you this question: If the Xbox 360 suddenly starts giving the PS3 real competition in Japan, outsells it handily in the US due to a price drop, and keeps on going OK to good in Europe...What is Sony going to do? They don't have the games, and the price drop seems like a very unlikely thing right now. We could see the PS3 in a similar mess that it was in pre-pricedrop by the holidays. And then, should that happen...What can Sony do? Decide to lose another billion dollars to match the X360?

In my opinion, it's amazing Microsoft is even FIGHTING Sony at this point. Remember the whole fact that Sony was supposed to bludegon the X360 and gain the lead in early 09? That's looking like it's getting pushed to 2010 or later...Not a good thing if your in last place for the greater half of the entire generation.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
