Forums - Microsoft - Why Bethesda Prefers The 360, More Fallout On The Way

Every time I've seen Fallout 3 in action, it's been on the Xbox 360. From the earliest playthrough demos right up to last motnh's E3 Expo, I've yet to see anyone controlling Fallout 3 with anything other than a white 360 controller. Speaking to TechRadar UK in London, Bethesda's Pete Hines explains away the 360 love.

"If you have the PC as your lead machine you have the problem of not knowing what configurations people have, how many gigs of RAM or what graphics card they have," explained Hines. "Obviously we are more familiar with the Xbox because we are familiar and the other thing is that the Xbox is much easier to take to tech shows. We can just pop the hard-drive off the Xbox and put it on any machine which is an advantage. Taking the PC or PS3 to these things just isn't convenient."

Later on in the interview, Hines reinforces the fact that exclusive DLC for the Xbox 360 and PC actually means exclusive, and confirmed that Fallout 3 isn't going to be the end of the Fallout franchise.

"We didn't buy the Fallout franchise to just do Fallout 3 and then stop," he said. "But let's get this one out of the door before we worry about the next one."

So their reasons are that 1) they are familiar with Xbox because they are familiar with Xbox, and 2) they don't want to carry a PC or PS3 to shows?  For the rest of us, PS3's swappable standard SATA hdd beats the shit out of the 360's expensive junk hdd.

Kotaku's childish fanboyism, again confirmed.

They use the same kind of HDD's so either both are junk or none is. But hey, keep on with your agenda and keep grinding that axe.

Screw you Bethesda, maybe you should actually hire some talent so that you won't have to complain for your own limitations.

If you've played the lucasarts point'n'click's you are old enough to be wiser T_T

I'm also old enough to have played Morrowind and Fallout 1&2. The fact that Bethesda is using alot of what made Oblivion crappy, and removing alot of what made Fallout 1&2 great should be cause of concern for any RPG fan.

Almost everything they have shown so far of Fallout 3 is pathetic. And their fear of not showing what anything about true roleplay from the game just proves the point that they might be scared of the fans' reaction.

Personally I'm extremely excited about this game.  I love everything I've seen on this game so far.  Oh, and I've played fallout 1&2 and Morrowind.

Oblivion was crappy??  Man... I shouldn't have wasted 600+ hours playing that thing...

Fallout 1 & 2 can't translate to consoles and their market AT ALL. Sure a true Fallout 3 for PC would have been the best.

However, what does that have to do with exclusive DLC for 360 & PC being a result of limited talent?

Sorry dude, but to those of us who loved Oblivion, this is probably going to be like getting a massage with a happy ending.

Exactly, the one who loved Oblivion, if they wanted to make a sequel they just had to make one, not take another franchise then make it into a clone of another game with a different setting! All I see is another Star Control 3 in the making.

morrowind>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>oblivion

so many shitty things about oblivion imo.

enemy scaling, item scaling, 3 guys have all the voices, repetitive and all the caves look alike. Shitty story, bad menus compared to morrowind ect.

Give me morrowind any day as it is a superior game

Meh, Morrowind, Oblivion, Daggerfall, it's all the same to me, and it's seem like i'll have to add Fallout 3 to the list :(
