Wow. That's really cool. Too bad most junk mail doesn't come in postage paid envelopes though. The spam solution looks cool too, but the fake email address generator could do with a bit of work.

I heard about someone who somehow got on a Republican National Committee mailing list without his knowledge or consent. So, whenever he got a letter begging for money he would send bricks or bundled phone books with the postage paid envelope taped to them.

Please don't perpetuate this retarded myth... all it does is cause more work for your local post office, who throw it away instead of delivering it.

Not only can this be considered mail fraud, for which you could be held responsible, the offending company that sent you the junk mail never even knows - becuase 1.) it gets thrown away immediately by the post office and 2.) they don't get the bill for it

A long time ago before new regulations, it may have worked... but these days the regulation is that if a return card is used as a 'label' in the method shown in your link, it is discarded as waste with no further ado.

Rle 917.243(b) in the Domestic Mail Manual states that when a business reply card is "improperly used as a label"--e.g., when it's affixed to a brick -- the item so labeled may be treated as waste.

The regulation wouldn't exist if there wasn't a problem in the first place.

That's to bad really.  Somebody will think of something new to deal with this problem of junk mail.
