I believe at this point it would be highly unlikely for them to reach 27mil. I think that 23-24 million is a much more likely figure. I actually believe it would be more likely for the wii to reach 40 mil by the end of this year than for the 360 to reach 27mil.

you do realise that the number you are giving is against all the market rules the VG industry and even the entire home entertainement industry have been following since christmas holliday season exist.... anything short of 24 mil should be impossible without a shortage....

I think that 24mil and change would be very reasonable, considering that we have 5 months left till the end of the year, I could see the 360 selling 1.5 mill units from now until the end of october then around 1 mil in November and 1.5 in december so let me rephrase then, 24-25mil. My bad.

I don't think so.

I got to agree on this with you.

I would have to agree with most it is highly improbable. Were the 360 to maintain its current sales trend throughout the rest of the year you would see three million additional sales. Even factoring a fifty percent increase over current sales you would struggle to see twenty five million. Selling twenty seven million would be on par with the Wii.

For the 360 to do this they would need to imasculate the PS3 from the market, and convert at least a hundred thousand units of sale to their product. They would need to get the retail price down on the model specifically in North America. There is demand but the price is still too steep for mass market acceptance.

You really need a perfect storm scenario. First the 60gig unit would need to see a price drop to $300. Then you would need to see the arcade find a price of closer to $200. Then you would need to see the 360 get an ungodly lionshare of exclusive third party titles. We are talking eighty percent for Microsoft to get a point across. That would probably cripple the PS3 in the North American market with the prices and games. While the exclusive titles would give the 360 a serious boost in Europe. Not to mention this would all have to start taking place within the next month.
