Who else thinks that the new Season of SGA has started off bad, especially concerning episode 3?  Come on Mallozzi and Mullie--write something that will keep loyal Stargate fans from just watching the new episodes for continuity's sake!

I'm sorry to tell you this but my bet is that there is'nt alot of fans of stargate on this forum.

C'mon, its been interesting.

1st ep = win, though it did have some obvious rush job on the switcheroo with Sam and Woolsey.

2nd ep = well, it was fool of crap to me. This one wasn't well thought out if you ask me.

3rd ep = very interesting take on how wraith can create crack heads. Plus, I think acting by Ronin when he was coming out of the drug was very convincing.

Now the descriptions of the couple of episodes are clearly rewrites of older SG1 scripts, but, meh, what series hasn't done that?

As I said in the last thread, the series is in desperate need of direction. Stargate has always been a scifi soap-opera, but it has hidden it behind a fairly interesting plot. Currently there is no plot though. There is no real threat to combat. The Wraith and Michael are the only things close to lingering threats. The Wraith have been consistently shown to be a non-threat before the new super Asgard powered ships started rolling out. Michael is only ever used for 2-3 episode arcs before he disapears again for some indeterminate period of time.

The really terrible part is though the ending of SG-1 completely ruined any chance of building a new threat. Currently the Stargate program has access to all the technology of the two most advanced races ever. They have nothing in the Pegasus galaxy that is close to what even the Ori had, and their ships stood no chance against the new Asgard enhanced Earth ships. The last credible threat was the replicators and they have once again been exterminated.

With any luck they will soon move back to having long story arcs rather than one off episodes with only a loose concept of continuity. I was hoping that they would run with the idea of trying not to play into the future Sheppard had seen. but that just doesn't seem to be the direction they are heading. Maybe the new race they meet will create a new host of problems for them.

If there aren't many fans of the show on this site... i'd be surprised if the show had many fans.  Considering this has the general geekiness of a videogame site... and the general geekness of a slaes site combined.
