To compete with a trained 5on5 or 4on4 - Team is so much better than playing 30on30 with random players. Check the most successfull online games of all time.

DotA 5on5 / 6on6 (???)

Wtf... none of those games are limited like that.

Scriming is great and all, but sometimes you just want that all out mayhem.

Well they probably don't mean number of people playing online at once, which is the only metric by which it can't beat CoD4, both versions. PS3 online gameplay of CoD4 is said to be smoother than 360's anyway.
