too much going on, your first sig already slowed down how fast firefox loads pages for me, and now it's slowed even more.  I say pick one or the other (though they are both cool).

I don't see how poking a pocket monster on a card is going to sell PS3s. It's definitely a technology (PS Eye) worth investing in for all gaming though.

I'm pretty sure no one said it will sell PS3s, but this thread is more about marvelling at the cool things the PS Eye can do.

 Right, you've identified the problem.  It really depends on how you define a "great deal:" if you simply mean how much money it costs to produce, then obviously the PS3 is a great deal. If a great deal is something that lots of people will buy at the given price, then obviously the PS3 is NOT a great deal.  I tend to believe that "Value" is determined by the customer, not the production cost, so I go with the latter.

Taking your logic to the extremes, you could say that a hybrid Blu-Ray player, Video Game machine, Music Player, and Corvette are a bargain for 69,799 dollars -- when the actual car by itself retails for 69,999. What a deal!

 

Is this a bad time to point out that I have a £150 chess set that a much prefer over any animated system?

I have one jib. The guy in that video acted along, and moved his hand away, all perfectly timed.

See if I played that game I would accidentally reach over the cards to grab something and the dragon would lunge at my hand--and go right thought it. This would look kind of cheesy to someone watching the screen, I doubt the AI will know to stop at my hand so the dragon and my hand would be displayed in the same pixels making a distorted mess until I moved my hand.

The Eye looks pretty sweet and is will be far better than anything else on the market, don't get me wrong, but I'm just saying... it's not going to be as perfect as many may believe.

 

But still, if I had a PS3, I'd buy it :)

And I know it isn't directly related to the sig, so I guess I should find the Eye of judgement thread and mention it there too.

 Edit: Hmm, I suspected there was a thread about the Eye of Judgement, but none of the search results appeared to be directly that. Anyone know if there is a thread largely devoted to it? Well, besides this one.

Holy crap man are you seriously expecting a game AI to recognize objects outside of the game in the real world?

Are you insane?

If this was something Nintendo had made and it was using Pokemons then you would have been having orgasms.
