Fair enough, but I have yet to see you posting any reason for the war more compelling than Iraq's (and nearby) oil. Incidentally, I haven't seen any such reason in the media or wherever else either.

Having our presence in the Middle East is a much more compelling reason to me. But we will probably never know the exact reasons why we went, but we all be left with the argument of WMD's, and then the onslaught of conspiracies.

If you think talking about oil is a conspiracy theory, tell that to McCain who has admitted oil is the reason for sending military to the middle east.
I am fine with people debating the oil issue, but to call it a conspiracy theory is jumping the shark. It's a very valid issue, and the most important thing surrounding most Middle-Eastern politics.

It won't make a difference unless Obama becomes president and we no longer have any nuclear technology. In which case Iran would have successfully become a more powerful country than the US.

The threat of having Saddam kill you is gone. Whether or not he had WMD's, he has used gas to kill thousands of his own people. If that is not a benefit, then I dont know what is. The opportunity to have a democracy is also a benefit. Whether or not it stays a democracy, or whether they reject it and go to another form of government is to be seen, but the mere opportunity to have them have a choice in how they live is a benefit instead of having the "democracy" that Saddam had, aka have him only on the ballot. |
I still believe that oil is the main reason for sending the military to Iraq. When it comes to Sadam i think America supported him during the Iraq Iran war at that time u people called him a hero now a terrorist.

That happens a lot, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Same as how the U.S. and Britain and the whole allied world was with Joseph Stalin despite him being worse than even Hitler and he became the allied worlds main enemy after World War II.
I think the same would happen with America and Israel U people consider Israel as ur best friend but let me assure u its ur friend until the time they need u.

About what? John F Kennedy was the first one to back the Baathists... back in 63.
Even so far as giving them a murder list to weed out communists.
