Gamerankings has a new Q&A link up regarding Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom

I meet this news with very mixed feelings. It seems that they've totally abandoned the RTS roots of KUF, which made it by far, the best RTS ever made in the history of 3d RTS games (only Herzog Zwei was better). This makes me rather sad, and kills a great bit of my hype. The game is now 1 vs. everyone basically. I keep getting these sad images of Ninety Nine Nights, and feel depressed, as N3 was only okay, and was only okay based on the fact I constantly compared it to KUF:Crusaders.

The up sides, however, are indeed there. The game is almost done, and it seems that they are really trying to go for a very strong ARPG. KUF was very character and story driven. So much so that it made N3 look like they threw that game together and called it done. Hopefully they can capture the greatness that made KUF. The graphics are well done, and boy, it looks sweet. Almost like a mideval Devil May Cry, and if you've ever played KUF, you know the game has always been a strong M rating due to the violence not only inherant in the game (via gore), but in the world of Bersia.

I do like the picture of Reigner. He was a great character in KUF:Crusaders, as you fight against him via 2 storylines, only to learn his side and join up with him against the Encablossa.

I'm scared I may have to rent this before I consider a purchase. And for KUF to do that.....is a bad thing. But, it could be ultra cool and blow me away.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
