It seems any console released by Nintendo is regarded higher here than any other effort, also if you look at the game ranking the top 10 is completely dominated by solely Nintendo games, while other fine games for other systems score well below review averages. How come this website is so much Nintendo fan dominated?

Did this website receive more coverage on Nintendo community sites or something?

BTW, I very much like the PS2 game Jak 3 which on average scored a measly 3 (!) on a scale of 1 to 10 from other VGchartz voters... This doesn't seem right, I recently bought the game based on some lofty media reviews.

I am really surprised by this, I skipped last gen myself, but I have now bought several good PS2 games for my PS3, namely Ape Escape 2 & 3, Jak 3 and God of War 1 & 2. They all seem to be excellent games IMO.

I think games like Jak 3 and Ape Escape 3 would be very appealing to Nintendo fans if ported identically to Nintendo platforms. God of War 2 is an excellent game as well, but a very different type of game gerne as compared to most Nintendo-style games. Personally I like this sort of varierity though.

Having said that I personally gave Super Mario World and Mario 64 perfect scores, as I would rate them 9.5 each for gameplay and design. Personally I try to give credit where I think it's due.

I don't understand it either... it seems like a lot of people here rate stuff lower because it's not on Nintendo and rate other stuff higher because it IS on Nintendo... that said the top 10 games list is pretty accurate for me, as in it's pretty good for my Nintendo console top 10 but not the top 10 of all time....


actually I had another look and that is a pretty fookin good list... missing Donkey Kong Country, Starcraft, Warcraft 2, Half Life, UT... but are they really in the top 10?

donkey kong country is a listed game.

Another example is another major playstation exclusive franchise the Ratchet and Clank series, which currently score only 4.5, far below media reviews.

I think that's really strange, did the voters actually play these games? I haven't played them much yet so I won't vote, but the PS3 version I am very much looking forward to!

Would the game score better here if a less impressive version (worse graphics, sound and game complexity) would be released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii? It almost looks like it...

Part of the problem is the rankings have not been up long on this site. Personally, I would never trust comparing ratings from a site like this with less than 10 user ratings for each title I am comparing. Jak 3 needs a lot more votes to get a more accurate score...

Even if 3 more people would give Ratchet and Clank a 9, the 11 votes would still mean just a score of 5.7, of course assuming nobody tries to pull down the score even further. It does make me wonder how useful the user rankings are at this website even for a much longer period of time with more votes dropping in.

What a load of crap. I meant it should be clear that the majority of people on this site are Nintendo fans.

This reality has a Nintendo bias shit only works when it comes to sales figures (currently), not for quality of games.

But apparently everyone votes 1s for the best games on other consoles because they aren't on Nintendo, which is really sad. 

The User rankings are pretty useless if people are voting in the sheep mentality of voting down anything non Nintendo.
