I'm gonna guess its due to the 2nd part of what I said: "That didn't stop developers from making a ton of great games for the PS2, however, probably due to the 1-year headstart it had." I'm going to take a guess and say that Sony wagered that the empassioned developers who worked so hard to make great PS2 games that looked and played as well or better than games on the XBox and GC, would be pleased to find their hard work actually pay off with hardware that was actually superior to its competition. Honestly, if a developer knew how to get great performance out of the PS2, jumping to the PS3 isn't a huge leap -- squeezing performance out of the PS2 required very similar thinking, and provided results that were arguably on par with the "superior" architectures of the GC and XBox. I wouldn't be surprised to see PS3 games begin to outpace their 360 counterparts in the near future. Then again, I honestly don't think it matters as much in the "HD era" as it did previously. Gameplay is coming around as being the thing people are looking for in a game, over good looks and "WoW" factor, so being a technically more or less powerful console may never really be an issue. On only a few counts will the power of the PS3 really outshine the 360, for most titles... games that utilize the number crunching power of the Cell for en-masse character animations and physics -- like the upcoming MMO shooter from Sony, for example, or any MMO style game where large numbers of characters or NPC are required. Otherwise, it's all on the developer to make it good -- the platform doesn't matter. Comparing the PS3 and 360 is like comparing the PS2 and the GC. Some people will argue up and down that the GC is as powerful as the XBox, and thus the Wii is mighty... I say "whatever". The games are what make the console in the end. They're all close enough... except maybe the Wii, which is dangerously "last gen", in my opinion. The library count is what skews the "has better games" judgement, at this point, without question. |
look i hope you are right but they are in a different place this time.
I remember an article about developers complaining about the ps2 and sony telling them to get there act together which they did.
this time its like a mirror image with developers finding the 360 much easier to develop for.
my point been when you are in third place you dont have the same pull.
I have seen nothing yet on the ps3 that looks better than 360 games.
