After watching the Dark Knight, ya I know FINALLY, I have to agree with a lot of the lines that movie had but what really struck me was the idea behind it. What makes a real hero and what makes a real villian? I felt that this topic could lead to a great discussion.
People look at cops; military; religion figureheads as heroes when, at times, they commit acts that are morally wrong in society. Yes when a soldier kills a terrorist it is looked at as a good thing but if you flip the coin was the guy really evil? The man was fighting for his own beliefs, his right to live the way his culture has, and to get people who are not welcome out of his country like we ourselves would do if we were envaded.
No matter which side of the coin you look at everyone is a hero and villian.
Some might say that for example firemen are heroes due to their work but what of their families. Is making your loved ones purposely worry about one's safety every waking moment till they come home safely that night be considered wrong at some level?
What really makes a hero or villian?
