PS2 was at 129m shipped through March 31, 2008. I really think Kaz mispoke when he said it passed 140m. It should be in the low to mid 130m range for shipments through June 30, 2008

well according to Sony they had sold roughly 118million consoles by March of 2007.

4,354,000 PS2 units were sold in the US from April of 2007 through June of 2008. Putting the number closer to 123million total consoles sold. But you still have to add the sales figures from Asia and Europe and the rest of the Americas. Its hard to find data for that.

Its easy to find the US Sales Data from 07 and 08.

I have found various sites that say the PS2 sold 120million units worldwide by October of 2007. So using those numbers it puts the total sales figures close to 130million, but again thats only adding the US numbers to the previous figures.

Question is did the PS2 sell 20million units from October 2007 through July of 2008? In the US 3,063,000 PS2 units were sold in that timeframe. So did the PS2 sell 17million units total between Asia, Europe, and rest of the Americas?

2. For all non-currently selling systems, basic logic would dictate that those shipped figures must be equal to sold figures after a year.

Actually that's not neccessarily true.  I remember back when the Wii was passing N64 in Japan first we heard that it passed N64 sales.  Then it passed N64 shipments.

It seemed odd but somebody else explained that a bunch of N64s that never sold were tossed.  Can Source or somebody more familiar with the matter clarify or just tell me i'm remembering a weird dream and it never happened?

Sorry, but retailers don't toss items like this. They sale them at massive discounts. I worked over 10 years in Sears, Circuit City, and Home Depot. Nothing working ever gets tossed. It always has some value.

@anubis679 - I was never considering the machines that are still available. Notice I mentioned that those numbers should be 100% after a year or so since the last fiscal update. Since that one is March of 2007 and the Genesis has been gone for 10+ years, I'm sure it is correct.
