It wouldn't have to be a direct translation of the show though, there are plenty of possibilities for good games set in the 'verse.  For example you could have an RTS based on the Unification war, or an adventure game based on the Operative's hunt for River and Simon.  The potential is there for some good games, especially if Joss provided the story.

 The universe itself offers some interesting options, but you would have to completely remove itself from the series to work. It could really only share the name, and maybe a cameo or two but those would be ridiculously hard to pull off well. In essence you would have to remove anything that would easily identify the game as being related to Firefly to make it work. At that point I have to wonder why you would even bother using the IP.
