Firefly to finally get the game treatment?

I'm just going to say this upfront, this is a selfish post. I am a huge fan of the TV show, Firefly, and as such this news is huge to me. So if you have no idea what I am talking about move on. If you are a rabid fan who latches onto anything Joss Whedon related, then keep reading.

Universal Studios has directly commissioned a game based off their summer blockbuster, Wanted. This is the first time a studio has made such a move, instead of working through a third-party publisher who licensed the rights. But what does this have to do with Firefly?

Well, Universal has a wide selection of properties to choose from and one of them just happen to be "Serenity," the movie extension of Firefly. Bigdownload.com sensed this, and snagged a Universal Pictures digital platform rep to ask about the possibility of a Firefly game.

"It's something we have talked about,"he said.

Well that's at least something, he also goes on to say that they would have to work with the creator, Joss Whedon, before making any plans. While this is little more than a tease, I'd rather take a "possible" over a "no" when it comes to Firefly.

If there were going to be a Firefly game I think I'd have a hard time reading about it because my computer monitor would be completely covered with my "excitement" (if you get my drift). Sorry to be graphic, but Firefly is AWESOME!



Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

The charm of the show will not tranlsate into a game. It is something that is best watched rather than interacted with. Save for the movie, the entire show is built around small people doing nothing but surviving on their own. Not exactly a thrilling gameplay experience.

 I would still buy 15 copies of the game for each console and use them all when I am playing with my self.

There would be no more talk that I ain´t playing with my Wii from me anymore.

I vaguely remember reading a rumour about a Firefly MMO in the past. And I agree that it won't translate into a game very well.
