Forums - Sony - Jack Tretton says “Home” May Be Two Years Away

I remember a thread where you and I had an arguement why you shouldn't be a mod, and called me a Wii fanboy.

I smell the Sony soldiers trying to create a cover story. Have the common decency to confess your disappointment, and please do not try to white wash this with platitudes. You wanted it, and Sony deceived you into thinking it was something other then vaporware. Sony played most of you, and that is all there is to it. They showed you an application, and implied that you would be getting it soon.

You should take this as a lesson learned. Unfortunately a great many of you haven't learned from this particular Sony tactic yet. This is the standard bait and switch. Show them what they want with no real intention of delivering the goods. Sony knew damn well this application would be a financial hardship being that it was free.

You guys have every right to be disgusted with Sony, and what they are doing with this application. There is no decent reason for them doing what they did. Other then to manipulate potential customers into thinking they would get a free virtual world simulator. Sony probably had no real intention of delivering this application in a timely manner.

How can anyone say this. Well Sony does already own a dozen virtual worlds that run on servers, and can handle loads upwards of 5000 users. They could have stripped or refit any one of these worlds into this application in less then a year. They already have the code for every system they need. Further more Sony knows the damn drill. They have done this very same thing a dozen different times.

A great man had a great comedy routine about the business man bending the customer over the table, and giving them that special customer service. Sony promised you free shit, and decided they didn't want to pay for it. Remember every day this application isn't out Sony saves a lot of money.

You know when I expect home to hit. I expect it to hit about a week after Sony decides to start charging for their online service. I will also predict that all of you will act shocked, but will try to white wash that as well. Saying that it is all for the best.

On one side note you most definitely do not want Sony to ever release a beta product. Once they do that they have a terrible habit of never actually finishing it. All you will get is a half finished product filled with bugs that ruin the experience. Imagine your apartments vanishing or all the stuff inside disappearing. I have actually seen some pretty heinous shit out of Sony Online Entertainment.

Procrastinationsation 3 >.>

I try, I was looking forward to home since November 2007... my friend was telling me about and he made it sound cool... Oh well.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

I smell utter bs, now this is the vg i rememeber.

Sony already released a beta for it, iam IN IT.  They also have their own closed beta they get stuff more advanced then we do. They have been developing it for years, how do you see that as saving money ?

Doesn't much matter. While this is the sort of thing that may please PS3 owners, I don't see it convincing anyone to put down their cash for Sony's console over MS or Nintendos. I simply don't see it being worth two more years of investment.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Dodece has a computer program where he types in like one sentence and it then composes like a 5+ paragraph essay on whatever it is he typed.
