@Hus
You do realize that the PS3 community is getting reamed by Sony. The PS3 community and Sony are not some sort of cybernetic collective. What is good for Sony is not necessarily good for the community. Quality is not the issue now. The issue is that four years is far too long to deliver on a promise. Would you tolerate this kind of customer service from anyone else? I highly doubt that unless your the kind of person who has no self respect, and thus feel you deserve to be treated badly.
Lets look at this rationally if Sony cannot deliver products in a timely manner, because they are inept then that is a problem. Further more it is a problem if they themselves do not see a problem with their timely delivery. At the very least PS3 owners should get some consideration for their inconvenience. Sony cannot seem to be bothered with the fact that this is going to leave some of their customers dissatisfied.
I guarantee you if the PS3 community rebuked Sony for this reaming the community would see results. Sony is taking their customers for granted. Something they should never do. The customers deserve a consolation or consideration for the inconvenience that this delay is causing them. Sony has half a dozen virtual world simulators that with a little work could be ported free of charge to their consumers in just a couple of months. Perhaps it is not home, but it could fill the stead of Home until Sony got around to delivering the real product.
Oh and before you tell me it is some technical hurdle if a few guys in their garages can create a emulator that runs a MMO on an incompatible operating system a little voice tells me that Sony should be able to do the same. Now if Sony cannot do the same then the PS3 is in for a seriously bad ride.
You want to defend the PS3 no matter what. You want the console to succeed. Then you need to stand up against Sony when they do something detrimental to their community. That is what being a good fan is all about. No its not about propaganda and blind obedience to doctrine. What it is about is making the environment a better place for all the players, and that means forcing Sony to adopt good standards.
Seriously look at how the other manufacturers treat their customers. When the Wii mote was putting holes in television sets Nintendo was fast to provide free stronger wrist cords. When Microsoft had a couple tenuous service days on Live that by the way did not effect everyone. The next thing you know Microsoft is giving out free arcade games just to say they are sorry. Think about that both companies went above and beyond to make their customers happy. Microsoft gave out ten times the value in money just for a couple days inconvenience, and Nintendo went out of pocket on a better band even though they were not responsible for customer stupidity.
